【Medical Insurance Claims for New International Students

As a new international student, you are not yet eligible for Taiwan's National Health Insurance (NHI) during your first six months. Therefore, a group medical insurance premium has been automatically included in your tuition fees.

Note: Outpatient visits, emergency room visits, and hospitalizations due to illness or accident are covered. Routine check-ups and dental cleanings are typically excluded.

Medical Treatment Procedures

If you would like to receive medical treatment, please follow the procedures below.
  1. Go to any hospital or clinics for treatment.
  2. Claim for a certificate of your diagnosis from your doctor.
  3. Complete the full payment of the treatment and make sure to obtain both the payment receipt and certificate of diagnosis.

How to apply for compensation?

To claim compensation, please submit the following documents to Office of International Affairs
  1. Compensation application form

  2. Original certificate of your diagnosis

  3. Original payment receipt

  4. Photocopy of your post office passbook cover

How much can I claim?

For the same symptoms, the insurance company only covers one visit per day. The maximum coverage per visit is TWD1,000, and does NOT include the hospital or clinic registration fee.
